Stop wrestling with the household ladder

Carrying a portable ladder upstairs whenever you need the loft is awkward, and the climb often feels worse when you're bringing a box back down. Our loft ladder installation gives you a fitted route designed around the opening and the space below it. We check the ceiling height, hatch position, opening size and landing clearance before recommending a timber ladder. We also assess the climbing angle, handhold and entry point into the loft. This matters because a good ladder must do more than fit the hole. It needs room to unfold, stand firmly and place you somewhere safe when you reach the top.

Measured, fitted and shown in use

We begin by checking the hatch and surrounding structure, then confirm that the ladder can deploy without hitting walls, doors or furniture. Once the opening is ready, we fit the ladder, adjust its length and test the operation. We show you how to open, close and secure it before we leave. If the existing hatch is too small or badly positioned, we can discuss enlarging or replacing it. We can also coordinate the access with boarding so the ladder reaches a stable landing point rather than an exposed joist. Every Cardiff layout is based on the available space, not guesswork.

Frequently asked questions

Will a loft ladder fit beneath my existing hatch?

It may, but we need to measure the opening, ceiling height and deployment space first. Some hatches need alteration or replacement so the selected timber ladder can open at the correct angle and provide a safe entry point.

Can you fit a ladder without boarding the loft?

Yes, where the structure and entry point allow safe use. We still assess where you will step at the top. If there isn't a stable landing area, we may recommend a small boarded section as part of the access work.

What space should we clear before installation?

Please clear the floor beneath the hatch and the route our installers will use through your home. We need enough room to handle the ladder components and deploy the fitted ladder fully during adjustment and testing.
