One safe route from the room to storage
A boarded loft is much less useful when you still need to fetch a portable ladder, and a fitted ladder should not leave you stepping onto exposed joists. Our loft boarding and ladder package plans both parts together. We inspect the hatch, ceiling height, surrounding structure and deployment space, then identify a stable landing point in the loft. The raised floor begins where you enter and continues into the agreed storage footprint. This creates a natural transition from the room below to a firm surface above. Most standard combined installations in Cardiff can be completed in one day.
Access first, then the raised floor
We usually begin by preparing the opening and fitting or adapting the access. Once the timber ladder is adjusted, we build the raised floor around the planned landing and storage route. We test the complete arrangement rather than treating each element as a separate job. Shelving, lighting or insulation can also be included where the survey shows they will improve the space. Larger floors, hatch alterations and extra fitted features may extend the schedule beyond one day. Frequently asked questions
Can the boarding and ladder really be fitted in one day?
Most standard combined jobs can be completed in one day. A larger floor, major hatch changes, restricted access or added shelving, insulation and electrics may require more time. We confirm this after the survey.
What if the existing hatch is too small?
We assess whether it can be enlarged or replaced to suit the timber ladder. Any change must consider the ceiling structure, available deployment space and safe landing point within the loft.
Can we add lighting to the package?
Yes. Our qualified electrician can complete loft lighting where it forms part of the agreed project. Planning it with the boarding helps place switches, fittings and cable routes around the access and storage area.
