A controlled first step before renewal
Material is contained
We handle old insulation carefully as it is lifted and taken away.
Structure becomes visible
Removal exposes joists and services for a more informed assessment.
Next stages fit better
Fresh insulation and raised flooring can start from a cleared base.
Remove old material before starting again
Insulation doesn't last well after contamination, water damage or years of being flattened beneath stored belongings. Poor coverage can also leave cold gaps that aren't worth building over. We remove loft insulation in a controlled way, first preparing the access and working route before lifting the old material. We contain it for removal and arrange disposal as part of the same service. This is different from a general contents clearance because the work focuses on handling insulation throughout the loft. Once it has gone, the joists and surrounding structure are easier to inspect at your Cardiff property.

Expose the structure for a better plan
A clear loft lets us see problems that old material may have hidden, including uneven coverage, obstructions and the arrangement of supporting timbers. We can then discuss replacement insulation, raised flooring or both as the next stage. If a broader upgrade is planned, removing the old layer first also gives us a cleaner base from which to preserve ventilation paths and fit around services. We include a free asbestos survey as part of our health and safety provision. Before attending your Cardiff home, we explain any access preparation and ask that stored belongings are moved away from the working area.
Frequently asked questions
Why might old insulation need removing?
Common reasons include contamination, damage, poor coverage, age or heavy compression. It may also need to come out before other loft work. We inspect the material before explaining the sensible next step.
Is this the same as clearing stored belongings?
No. Insulation removal concentrates on lifting, containing and disposing of insulating material. If the loft also contains unwanted boxes or furniture, we can discuss a separate clearance service for those items.
Can you install replacement insulation afterwards?
Yes. Removal can form the first part of a wider upgrade. Once the structure is exposed and assessed, we can quote for suitable replacement insulation and raised boarding that avoids compressing the new material.
